End-to-end encrypted with DTLS-SRTP

Audio and video are encrypted with DTLS-SRTP directly between the two phones. Call setup is itself encrypted and signed, so the server cannot place itself in the middle of the call.

A relay that cannot listen

When a direct connection between the phones is not possible, the call goes through a relay. The relay forwards encrypted packets only — it has no keys and cannot open them.

Hide your IP address in calls

A direct call can reveal your IP address to the other person. With “Hide IP in calls” turned on, the call always goes through the relay, so the other person never sees your IP.

Group calls without a server in the middle

In group calls the participants connect to each other directly, so there is no central server mixing everyone’s audio.

No phone number needed

You call people by their Umbera username or quant address. Nobody needs your phone number to reach you.
