1. Points of contact
Authorities of EU Member States, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services (DSA, Art. 11): abuse@umbera.app.
Users (DSA, Art. 12): abuse@umbera.app or the Report menu in the app. General questions: info@umbera.app.
Languages: English and Russian.
2. How to report illegal content
In the app: use the Report menu on a message, user, group member, post, comment, channel or community.
By email to abuse@umbera.app. Please include: why you believe the content is illegal; where it is (username, channel name or a link to the post); if possible, your name and email so we can reply; and a statement that you believe in good faith that the information is accurate. No name is needed for reports of child sexual abuse material.
We confirm receipt and tell you our decision at the address you give.
3. What we can and cannot see
Private chats, groups, calls and private channels are end-to-end encrypted: we cannot see or scan their content.
There we act on reports from participants: their app discloses to us only the message they choose to attach. The author's signature is verified, so evidence cannot be forged.
Moderators see public channels and communities the same way any reader does.
4. Decisions and appeals
Child safety reports are reviewed within 24 hours, all others within 72 hours.
If we remove content or restrict an account, the author is told the reason: which rule was broken and what the decision was based on.
You can appeal a decision by writing to abuse@umbera.app within 6 months. Appeals are reviewed by a person, not by automation; a wrong decision is reversed.
Rules: Terms of Use (umbera.app/terms), Community Guidelines (umbera.app/community-guidelines), Child Safety Standards (umbera.app/child-safety).
5. Requests from authorities
Send requests and orders to abuse@umbera.app from the authority's official address. We verify every request through official channels before acting on it.
We respond within the applicable law and within what we technically hold. We do not have the content of messages or calls, contact lists, or users' phone numbers or email addresses. What the server does store is listed in the Privacy Policy (umbera.app/privacy).
We report confirmed child sexual abuse material ourselves — to NCMEC or the Internet Watch Foundation and to law enforcement.
6. United Kingdom — Online Safety Act
We have carried out, and keep up to date, an illegal content risk assessment and a children's access assessment for the service.
Umbera is for adults only (18+). You can report illegal or harmful content and make a complaint in the app or at abuse@umbera.app, following the process in sections 2–4.
7. India — Grievance Officer
Grievance Officer under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021: Umbera Trust & Safety, abuse@umbera.app.
