1. What is prohibited
Creating, storing, sending, requesting or sharing child sexual abuse material, including drawn and AI-generated material.
Grooming — contacting a minor with the aim of sexual abuse or exploitation.
Sexualisation of minors, sextortion, child trafficking and any facilitation of these.
Channels, communities and profiles set up to find or exchange such content.
2. Adults only
Umbera is for people aged 18 and over, as set out in our Terms of Use.
Sexual and explicit content is not allowed anywhere in Communities — in public or private channels — even when every member is an adult. Channels with mature themes (no explicit images) are labelled 18+ by Umbera moderation and are not shown in the catalog.
3. How to report in the app
You can report any message, user, group member, post, comment, channel or community from the Report menu. There is a dedicated reason, "Harm to children", for these cases.
A report with this reason goes straight to Umbera moderation, not only to the channel's admins.
You can also report without the app by writing to the address at the bottom of this page.
4. What happens after a report
In a public channel or community, content reported as harm to children is hidden at once until a moderator decides. If such reports about a channel come from different members, the channel is frozen: nobody can post in it or join it.
Umbera moderation reviews child safety reports within 24 hours. If a violation is confirmed, the content is deleted from our servers, the channel is closed permanently and the offender is banned.
A file removed as illegal cannot be uploaded again: its fingerprint goes on a blocklist and any re-upload is blocked automatically.
The author is told the reason and can appeal. Content hidden by mistake is restored.
5. Private chats and private channels
Private chats, groups and private channels are end-to-end encrypted: our servers cannot see or scan their content.
Moderation here works through reports. A member who can see a message can attach it to a report — their app discloses that single message to moderation. The author's signature is verified, so evidence cannot be forged.
When a report is confirmed, we delete the content from our servers, close the channel and ban the offender, just as in public channels.
6. Reporting to authorities
We report confirmed child sexual abuse material to NCMEC (CyberTipline) or the Internet Watch Foundation and to law enforcement, as required by law.
We do not keep such material longer than needed to remove it, and we never forward it. We keep only service records: what was removed, when, in which channel, and where it was reported.
We respond to lawful requests from law enforcement within the law and within what we technically hold.
7. Compliance with laws
Umbera complies with the child safety laws that apply to the service, including the laws of the Republic of Armenia and the requirements of the app stores.
We review these standards as the service evolves. The date of the latest change is shown at the top of this page.
